I just found a package of three of these in my garage. I bought them years ago, no idea what I was buying. I don’t even remember what I bought them for. They’re still in the unopened package.

I saw some people selling them online for up to 40 bucks a piece on my university Facebook group.

Check to make sure the elastic band is still pliable, but you can Jerry rig it with rubber bands if it's not. Just need a tight seal around the edges.

I found a package of P95 3M masks left over from painting down in the utility room the other day. I left them there but it’s nice to know we have a couple if we need them. And I guess the difference between N95 and P95 is that the P95 is resistant to oil. I learned something today!

As an asthmatic, this makes me feel much better about going out, even though it’s not all that bad here. Yet.

The CDC is starting to fess up that a mask might be a good thing.
I have a couple in my garage as well. They are for dust and particulate, I’m not sure if they have small enough pore sizes for a virus. I think I would want a proper respirator with a HEPA filter for that.

How long has that taken them?
I imagine that anything is better than nothing.

Yes anything is better than nothing. Proper use is just as import ant as having the gear tho.

You know what happens when you say anything bad about the toddler-in-chief, even when it isn’t even aimed at him. Ego over human life and all that.

Same. I’ve got a few I’m going to start wearing when I go to the grocery store. I’ll bet we’re going to start seeing them used more often.

I went to storage today for some stuff and I knew I had a bag of the vent style ones so I grabbed them. I saw a donation thing last weekend. I just read Facebook donated a 100k to Marin County medical so I don’t know if it’s a huge priority here anymore. But they might give them to SF. I kept three and tied the bag up again. I do have a 3M paint booth mask but it would need new filters, I have the socks that go over the filters too for the large paint particulates.

I found five a couple days ago. Right next to my huge box of nitrile gloves.

There’s already such a shortage that requiring anyone out to wear a face covering would be pretty tough for the general population. Hell, work has moved to having us reuse one disposable mask for a up to a week right now.

I found a stash of N95s the other day. The securing bands are OK, but the padding around the nose bridge is deteriorating. I brushed most of it off, but not well enough as a few pieces were inhaled. The other problem was that my glasses kept fogging up. Not to much of a problem, just don't wear them whilst driving...

I’ve only got plain old cheap plastic gloves, but I suppose it’s better than nothing. What them in the store, take them off in the car and hit the hand sanitizer, then wash as soon as I get home.

I find those style of masks always fog up on me when woodworking. Instead I've found my respirator to work much better.

That’s so crazy...I found one tonight in my workshop tool chest in that “other stuff” drawer. It smells like sawdust, but I k ind of like that smell.
